— Positive Trait: Charming It is rare to see Lockwood without a smile on his face. According to his friends -and even his enemies- it is his greatest weapon. Sometimes it is his armor, but most of the time it is a genuine expression of friendliness and empathy for those he's around. Though reserved when it comes to his personal life, Lockwood does his best to be positive towards, and fully engage, with those around him. It is this quality that often helps set clients at ease, despite his youth. He may use this as a way to deflect attention away from himself, but there is a sincerity in his interest, and it is this genuine warmth, kindness and sincere desire to help people that often acts as a good balance against his natural arrogance.
— Positive Trait: Passionate Lockwood has a passionate ambition (some would say obsession) to have one of the most successful agencies in London. He has a very well-developed sense of confidence in his worth, his goals, and this belief in himself often helps others believe in him. Though it may be fueled by the personal losses he suffered young, Lockwood has a passion for being proactive about tackling the Problem, not just reacting to it. Though his ambition to do things his way is often viewed as just arrogance, it comes from a genuine belief that people -ADULTS- have become complacent with the Problem. Lockwood wants to see actual changes in this fight against The Problem, and if he must make his own solution to get the work done, then that is what he will do.
— Positive Trait: Confident While he can come off as abrasive, he is a natural born leader, often display wisdom well beyond his year. Such as how he takes on Lucy based on her abilities, not just her paperwork. He does like the limelight, but he is always generous with his support for George and Lucy's work and when things go sideways (really sideways, not just leaving chains behind) he takes the responsibility on his own shoulders. He is very protective of his people and believes in letting them do what they're good at, even if he's not so sure it is the best course. For example, Lucy's relationship with the Skull.

— Negative Trait: Secretive Lockwood has a habit of always believing he's the smartest in the room. He tends to keep his own counsel in regarding what should be done, when and where. An example of this is seen in episode two when he sends Lucy and George off to get dinner while Lockwood takes it upon himself to put news of their intention to pursue Anabelle's killer based on Lucy's psychic connection with Anabelle. This after Lucy specifically asked him to leave her out of the public eye. He is also extremely reserved when it comes to the subject of his parents and his family in general. While it is obvious that these losses are what fuel his ambition, passion and also his reckless actions, he shuts people out rather than allow himself supportive relationships.
— Negative Trait: Reckless Though he is protective of his team, Lockwood is dangerously reckless when it comes to his own safety. It is noted by many different characters over the course of the series that Lockwood has a death wish, and Flo Bones even says she was surprised to see him because she figured he'd have gotten himself killed. He often throws himself in harm's way any chance he gets, and even admits that his "best" plans often have a suicidal component in the mix. He can also be reckless from the perspective of committing the Agency to a job that others wouldn't touch with a hundred-and-ten-foot pole in the pursuit of glory. Though, to his credit, he usually has a plan in mind when George and Lucy are part of the equation. He doesn't want them hurt and never hesitates to put himself between them and any threat.
— Negative Trait: Arrogant Simply put Lockwood believes he is the smartest person in the room. Lockwood strives to project an air of calm, cool, detachment but when people challenge his competency and/or the legitimacy of his agency and his team, he gets very defensive. For example, his relationship with Kipps. When things go his way, his extreme self-confidence shines but when things don't go the way he plans them, his wounded pride often causes him to make bad decisions; i.e Kipps and the wager during the Bickerstaff case. The good news is, Lucy and George are often there to be Lockwood's better angels and Lockwood does show genuine growth at the end of the series because of his relationship with his friends, but it is still a work in progress.

• Important Notes: These are his canon "powers". As discussed on the FAQ these will be nerfed in game, I am just including them here for the mods' information since Lockwood may reference them, even though he will not have them:

Talent / Sight: In Lockwood and Co canon, children manifest 'Talents' related specifically to interacting with the dead and are sensitive to these Talents up until their early twenties. The talents fall under one of three umbrella; Sight, Touch, Listening. These aren't magic powers or anything that could be taught to someone else. They are considered psychic abilities and are innate talents that gradual fade as a person ages; usually gone by the mid-twenties/early thirties.

Lockwood's is most gifted with Sight. This Talent allows him to detect death-glows, which is usually depicted by the shape of how their body was laid out in that final moment. He can also detect residual spirit energy and identify different types of ghosts from the various energies they exude. His Sight is very strong, and he often uses sunglasses while on a case as a way to keep from being blinded by his own Talent.

One of the things that is remarked upon is that Lockwood, who is 17/18, which is around the time Talents start to dull, has not seen any sign that his talent is fading. He is as strong with his Talent at young adulthood as he was back as a child, as opposed to someone like Kipps, who is in his early twenties and his talent is completely gone.

Listening is the big talent in canon. It is Lucy's talent and Lucy is the audience's primary guide through Lockwood & Co, both the books and the series. Listening allows an agent to hear ghosts, ghost activity, and in rare instances allows for a psychic/empathic connection; such as Lucy and Anabelle's ghost. Lucy takes things a step further with her Talent in that she can also hold conversations with ghosts who are powerful enough -Skull-. Lucy is only the 2nd person in canon with this ability.

Lockwood can detect some ghost sounds, enough to recognize they're in an area, but where Lucy could be hearing death loops, identifying individuals, spirit type, Lockwood would need his Sight to be able to provide those same identifications. Also Lockwood does not have the ability to form a psychic/empathic connection with the dead, the way Lucy can, let alone hold a conversation with the dead.

Touch doesn't have as strong an example in canon as Sight and Listening. Touch is an agent's ability to come in contact with an item and gain a sense of the spirit connected to it. Touch really helps agents find and identify Sources, but it can also help particularly sensitive agents learn things about the ghost tied to the item.

Lockwood possess a low level sensitivity with this talent. He knows a Source if he comes in contact with it, this is necessary for an agent in the field, but it isn't the same level of sensitivity Lucy displays in the first episode when she can sense the emotions (happy, positive, vengeful, murderous) attached to an object. For example.

He'd been a gifted swordsman even before he'd been claimed by his Maker, and vampirism had only served to enhance his abilities. Lockwood was justifiably proud, bordering on arrogant, when it came to blades, and there was no way he was missing out on the Red Court tournament!

Holding his own, perhaps with an unwarranted flourish or two along the way, Lockwood had triumphed over quite a few opponents by this point. He was definitely feeling full of himself, smiling broadly when Lydia stepped into the area with him, spinning his rapier around his wrist in a way that was pure showing off.

"You're next then?" He exclaimed, smile becoming even wider and full of teeth, as he reached down and adjusted the blue ribbon that was wrapped around the wrist of his sword arm. He was definitely looking forward to this, and giving off the impression that he fully expected to trounce Lydia.

AU Name: Anthony J Lockwood
AU Age: Lockwood was turned when he was a mortal 19. He has been a vampire for 50 years.
Physical Differences: There is no real physical difference between mortal and immortal Lockwood. Even as a mortal, his dark hair and eyes made his pale skin seem all that paler and vampirism has slightly amplified this contrast. The biggest difference is the presence of specks and streaks of very prominent gold in his otherwise near black eyes.
AU History:

The only child of very wealthy, old money, titled, land owning human parents.

His parents died when he was six years old.

Raised by tutors he has always been 'to the manor born'.

Took control of his wealth at age 13 and assumed the seat in human government vacated by his late father.

Caught the attention of the Gold Court vampire representative to his lands.

Marked for vampirehood, his Gold Court Maker began to groom him for the minefield that is vampire politics, however his Maker waited for six years before presenting Lockwood with a White Feather.

Lockwood was 19 years old when he was turned.

Lockwood has been a vampire for 50 years.

He is not permanent faculty at the castle, known more for continuing his education in vampire politics out in the lands.

GASP he actually had, and has, a good working relationship with his Maker.

A prodigy with a sword, he was already gifted and talented in the area of blade work even before he was brought over.

Oddly, given the intimate nature of such things, but Lockwood and his Maker were never lovers. The relationship is a well known little brother/big sister sort of situation.

Lockwood is well known as a celibate. Lady Whisperfangs loves to raise this fact whenever Lockwood is around the castle, and enjoys stirring the pot of speculation regarding who might catch Lockwood's eye.

AU Personality: Lockwood's AU personality is pretty in line with his canon personality.

Charismatic - Even before he was turned Lockwood was incredibly charismatic, and he knew it. He knows how to use his charisma to advantage, and after fifty years as a vampire knows how to keep it from tipping over the line into dangerous arrogance. Not that this stops him from deliberately stepping over that line, particularly if he's annoyed. Though he is almost always wearing his sword belt and rapier, Lockwood has a well earned reputation for diffusing situations with a ready smile, easy manner, and quick wit.

Ambitious - While most vampires seek power for power's sake, Lockwood's ambition is more deeply rooted in the losses he suffered as a child. One of Lockwood's better kept secrets, though his Maker is well aware that the ambition that drives Lockwood comes from a sort of internal hollowness. Lockwood strives to be the best as a way to avoid the emotions involved with living life; so long as he is focused on professional goals and the needs of others, he can avoid looking inward and trying to tackle the grief he carries around.

Secretive - For a man who is gregarious, charming and blessed with the gift of gab, Lockwood is a master of being able to speak without saying a word. His ability to retain secrets with such skill as to ensure no one is even aware he has them, is one of the political gifts that drew the attention of his Maker. That this personality trait also helps him keep people at a safe arm's length is a bonus.

Confident - Going hand in hand with his charisma, Lockwood is extremely self possessed.

Flighty - A defense mechanism he deploys when a conversation or a situation gets too close to being personal, but it is also a reminder of how young he was when he was turned. He will skip from subject to subject, from circumstance to circumstance, with a restless sort of inability to stick with any situation that he finds uncomfortable.

Protective - Lockwood is forever locked in a dance with his self-destructive demons. One of the ways he holds them at bay is by focusing on protecting those he cares about. Though he is quick to present himself as a heartless, supercilious member of Gold Court, out for his own ambition the reality is Lockwood is laser focused on protecting life, both vampire and human. It is not the most popular of views, particularly that last bit, and Lockwood is savvy enough to know he needs to step carefully in that regard.

Course Information

Court: Lockwood was born for Gold Court. A natural born leader, in the vein of shepherding and protecting those within his care, his Maker often joked that Lockwood didn't need to learn how to enthrall anyone; he was that gifted with natural charisma. Though he comes across as holding himself aloof and above, Lockwood is actually very attentive to people and situations, which makes him a natural at diplomacy. He also has just enough natural arrogance that he enjoys the brinksmanship of politics, and even thrives in the cutthroat world of vampire governance. There are plenty of whispers that he is gunning to outdo Kashire for the title of youngest Council member. Lockwood will be the first to vehemently deny such aspirations, and he is never anything but deferential towards, and supportive of, the current Council.

Diplomacy - With an emphasis on how to charm humans

The family politics of a political family - AKA identifying inter-court drama, and how to keep it from weakening vampire control over human lands.

History - This is a course his Maker always insists he teach, and a subject he loaths. As such, young novice vampires may actually find themselves learning about basket weaving if they take this course.
Maker/Blood Claim: Lockwood's Maker is a blend of Flo Bones from canon, and Mame Dennis from Auntie Mame. A woman in her early twenties when she was turned, she started her vampire life in Red Court, and lived as a Red Court vampire for a third of her vampire existence, before making the painful transition to Gold Court. Though well aged, for a vampire, she has never sought a place on the Council, content to be a regular liaison between the human world and the vampire world in the lands.

Known as something of a maverick, she has always been savvy enough to stay on the right side of the right people. It does help that she provided the Gold Court with the driven and passionate young lordling, known as Lockwood. She will often send Lockwood on assignment as a way to appease the Council so they leave her alone. This is why Lockwood makes semi-regular appearances at the castle to teach courses, because damn if she's got time for that non-sense.

Regardless of her habit of sending him to make nice with Council expectations, Lockwood adores her in a very little brother/big sister sort of way.
